Thomas Waldron

Dr Thomas Waldron, physician in ordinary to Charles II, was buried in the cloisters of Westminster Abbey on 14th February 1677 but the exact location is not given in the Abbey burial register. He was educated at Oxford university, a son of Thomas Waldron of Tenbury in Worcestershire and took his degree in 1655. Ten years later he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London. His wife Mary was buried on 24th January 1687. Their children were Timothy, Henry, Thomas, Agnes, Jane and Elizabeth. Jane was buried on 17th April 1686. Elizabeth once had a small tablet on the wall of the south cloister (so presumably the family were buried in this cloister). This was removed in the 19th century but the inscription read: 

Elizabeth Waldron, the third daughter of Dr Thomas Waldron, Physician in Ordinary to King Charles II and his household, died Feb.5 1675/6 being 19 years 4 months and 4 days and here underneath was buried the 9th day of the same month, being Ash Wednesday.

The coat of arms shown was "argent, three bulls heads, trunked sable, armed or".
