Kenneth Snow

Rear Admiral Kenneth Snow was Receiver General and Chapter Clerk of Westminster Abbey and his ashes are buried in the north cloister of the Abbey. The small pale stone reads: 

Rear Admiral Kenneth Arthur Snow 1934-2011 Receiver General 1987-1998

He was born on 14th April 1934, son of Arthur and Evelyn and was educated at Grahamston and the South African Nautical College. In 1952 he joined the Royal Navy and served on various vessels including HMS Arethusa and Hermes. From 1984-1987 he was Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff (Operations) to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe. He married Pamela Terry. Their son is Rear Admiral Christopher Snow and daughter Penelope married in the Abbey in 1992. He died on 5th December 2011 and his ashes were buried on 17th March 2012. His coat of arms appears in the large west window of the Lady Chapel which is to donors, fundraisers and senior Abbey officials concerned in the Abbey restoration appeal. The window was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II in 1995 on the completion of the restoration of this chapel.
