Abbey Marks Shakespeare Anniversary

Westminster Abbey marked the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare with a wreath laying during Matins on Sunday 7th August 2016.
The service was led by the Reverend Jane Sinclair, Canon in Residence, and the sermon was given by the Reverend Dr Paul Edmondson, Head of Research, The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
During the service, Peter Holbrook, Chair, The International Shakespeare Association, laid a wreath at the Shakespeare memorial in the South Transept. Dame Janet Suzman, actor, read Prospero's speech from Act IV, scene i of The Tempest.
