Westminster Abbey is a wonderful place for groups interested in exploring big questions. We work with young people under the age of 25.
The Abbey is a living church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the burial place of distinguished figures in the nation’s history from kings and queens to writers and musicians and politicians and scientists.

What will happen on your visit
Your visit to the Abbey will be bespoke to your needs and the group but will always include a tour of the Abbey’s highlights including the Coronation Chair, The Grave of the Unknown Warrior, the site of Coronations for British monarchs, the beautiful Lady Chapel and Poets’ Corner. We are likely to take a moment of quiet and reflection to light a candle together as people have done in the Abbey for centuries.
How to book
We welcome all booking enquiries. In the first instance send an email to communities@westminster-abbey.org.
We will ask you to complete our standard booking form which will be the beginning of our conversation to tailor your trip to the needs of your group.
Community projects
All group projects start with a tour but some groups may want to become more involved and develop responses and work related to or inspired by the Abbey. These projects will be developed on a case by case basis. If you have an idea for a project or continued partnership please contact Aaron: communities@westminster-abbey.org.
Don't Lose Your Head
Following our recent Hidden Histories project (see the videos below) we will be starting our second youth project in September and are recruiting young people aged 16-18 years now.
Young people will be responding to the life and legacy of Sir Walter Raleigh to mark the 400th anniversary of his death. A final outcome will be produced for display in St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, Raleigh's final resting place at the end of October.
You are invited to our Education Centre on 3rd August 2018 to find out more about the project, meet some of the young people who worked on our last project and enjoy some refreshments.

Volunteer at Westminster Abbey
We have a large team of volunteers in the Learning Department supporting our family and school visitors. Volunteers supervise art and craft activities, lead tours and assist with workshops. If you are interested in volunteering with us please get in touch.
