Scouts and Guides celebrate shared traditions

A National Scout and Guide Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving was held at Westminster Abbey at Noon on Saturday 5th November 2016. The National Anthem was sung.
The service honoured the shared traditions and values of the Scout and Guide Movements, and marked the 100th anniversary of the Senior Section of the Girl Guides and the 100th anniversary of the Cubs.
The service was conducted by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall.
Testimonies were read by Sara Jugon, Explorer, and Sophie Hicks, Guide.
Macey Pattenden, Scout, read Isaiah 40: 25-31; and Alex Williams, Guide, read St Mark 12: 28-34.
The Address was given by the Very Reverend Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester.
The Renewal of Promises was led by Valerie Le Vaillant, Chief Guide; and Tim Kidd, The Scouts UK Chief Commissioner.
The prayers were led by the Reverend Paul Arbuthnot, Minor Canon and Sacrist, and said by Emily Gilham, Explorer; Grace Morton, Guide; Alec Bird, Scout; and Megan Larkam, Scout.
The service was sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey, directed by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers. The organ was played by Matthew Jorysz, Assistant Organist.
