Westminster Abbey Holds Annual Civic Service

Westminster Abbey's annual Civic Service was held on Sunday 5th July at 11.00 am.
The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, welcomed The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor The Lady Flight and other Westminster councillors. The Address was given the Lord Mayor's Chaplain, The Reverend Rupert Toovey. Lessons were read by the leader of Westminster City Council, Councillor Philippa Roe (Joel 2: 23–28) and the Lord Mayor (Colossians 3: 12–15). Prayers were led by The Reverend Dr James Hawkey, Minor Canon and Precentor of Westminster.
The service was sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey conducted by the Organist and Master of the Choristers James O'Donnell. The organ was played by Daniel Cook, Sub-Organist. Music before the service was played by Jeremy Woodside, Organ Scholar. A collection was taken for The Sir Simon Milton Foundation.
