The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries
High above the Abbey floor, the Galleries in the beautiful 13th century triforium display our greatest treasures and tell the story of our thousand-year history.
Essentials
The Galleries are a medieval space where room is limited so admission is by timed ticket (adults £5.00, children under 17 free), which is bought in combination with an Abbey entry ticket.
Opening times
Monday-Friday: 10.00am-3.00pm
Saturday (September to April): 9.30am-12.30pm
Saturday (May to August): 9.30am-2.30pm
Sunday: Galleries closed, Abbey open for services
The Galleries close one hour after the published closure time.

The Liber Regalis
The 14th century Liber Regalis is a guide to staging coronations and royal funerals at the Abbey and still forms the basis of royal ceremonies today.

Henry VII effigy head
Modelled on Henry VII’s death mask, the king’s effigy head is stunningly lifelike and all that survives of his funeral effigy which was carried on his coffin. There are 21 funeral effigies, from the 14th to early 17th centuries, in the Galleries.

The Westminster Retable
A remarkable medieval treasure, England’s oldest surviving altarpiece is thought to have been the centrepiece of Henry III’s Abbey.

The Litlyngton Missal
A magnificent Latin manuscript, one of the largest surviving English medieval manuscripts, richly decorated with coloured inks and gold leaf. Some of the pages have now been digitised so you can turn the pages.
Where are the Galleries?
The Galleries are 16 metres (52 feet) above the floor of the Abbey. See amazing views of the Palace of Westminster and the medieval Chapter House on your way up – it’s all part of the experience.
A lift is available for those with reduced mobility.
